The United States has about 550,000 new cases related to Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) each year, and about 1 in every 5 people die within the year. People at the age of 40 years and over have a higher risk of developing CHF. People with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and coronary heart disease are significantly at risk for heart failure. CHF is when the heart cannot pump blood at the normal rate, which affects the heart's ability to deliver enough blood, oxygen, and nutrients to support the body's needs. The common symptoms are shortness of breath and having trouble breathing.
