What:

San Francisco has been doing a great job keeping our COVID rates low.  However, we need to continue these efforts and also recognize that the COVID crisis has delayed health maintenance, and that also, flu season is upon us.

Community-based organizations lead by Self-Help for the Elderly, Walgreens, and AAMG are hosting an enjoyable, free, and easy event that lets you: get an initial or COVID Booster, receive a flu shot, improve your health maintenance, and have some fun at the same time!

Our goal is to Stay Ahead of the Viruses and keep our community safe and well!

Who:

·         Doctors from the All American Medical Group (AAMG)

·         Social Workers from Self-Help for the Elderly

·         Your friends from Dignity Health, St. Mary’s, and St. Francis Hospitals

·         Insurance Experts from SBHIS

·         Anthem Blue Cross

·         Dorothy Chung, Registered Physical Therapist

·         The Caring people from Walgreen’s Pharmacy

·         Sponsored in part by a generous grant from  ILRCSF and Direct Relief

When/Where

Please join us anytime on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 10 am-4 pm @ the Walgreens parking lot on Irving Street and 21st Avenue.

Why:

We need to stay ahead of the viruses and pay attention to our daily health issues.

There are new booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines. Seniors and some at-risk groups older than 18 who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series.

For people who got the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.

And in these challenging times, so many people have put off their own health maintenance.  But be proud, Chinese Community!  It’s safer than ever and in our community, and we’re trying to make it even better by making it easy and convenient to:

  • Talk to your community doctors in an informal setting.  Ask questions about vaccinations or other health maintenance issues

  • Meet the staff from your neighborhood medical center.

  • Greet the caring people providing social services in your neighborhood.

  • Learn about insurance options to maximize your benefits.

  • Get a health screening.

  • Learn some cool moves from an experienced physical therapist.

  • Win prizes and gifts.

  • Get amazed with magic.

  • And maybe get a flu shot or a booster vaccination… or even your first dose if you’ve been putting it off.

“Our San Francisco Chinese community is one of the safest in the world,” says Anni Chung, President and CEO of Self-Help for the Elderly. “We need to keep it that way by making it easy to get a flu vaccination, booster, or initial COVID vaccination.”

“Many people have been delaying their health maintenance because of COVID.  It’s time to think about your wellness and visit your family doctor,” adds Dr. Kenneth Chang, AAMG Internal Medicine. “And make sure everyone gets Flu vaccinations and COVID boosters if you are eligible.”

“Flu season is upon us.  We need to avoid the potential twindemic of COVID and Flu.  Our doctors and staff from AAMG will be volunteering and supporting these efforts to educate, inform, and vaccinate our community,” concludes Dr. Joseph Woo, President of AAMG
